SHE Returns to Cape Town.
Nine female artists, nine fragrances:
an exhibition engaging sight and scent.
PRESS RELEASEFrom 2 October, 33BREE, in collaboration with The Artists Gallery, presents SHE Returns to Cape Town, a group exhibition bringing together the latest works of nine female artists from South Africa.
SHE was first conceived in Hamburg in 2022, when The Travelling Art Gallery invited these nine artists to exhibit together in a 450-square-metre space. Following the success of that exhibition, The Artists Gallery team, led by Managing Director Jaret Loggenberg, has invited the same artists four years later to reunite in Cape Town.
The Artists Gallery is particularly proud to present the exhibition in a first-time collaboration with Prestige Cosmetics Group, adding a new sensory dimension to the viewing experience. Each artist is paired with a different fragrance from an international brand, including Narciso Rodriguez, Elie Saab and Tommy Hilfiger. Visitors are invited to explore the connections between artworks and fragrances through both sight and scent, discovering how colour, form and feeling can find an echo in perfume.
The exhibition features artworks by Sarah Danes Jarrett, Cornè Theron, Sara Gaqa, Jaret Loggenberg, Jaime Danielle Smith, Androetta Bekker, Hermien van der Merwe, Claudia Gurwitz and Christa Myburgh. Each brings a distinct artistic perspective, an established exhibition history and a record of work collected internationally.
“We are immensely proud to bring these nine remarkable women together and to celebrate the talent South African women have to offer,” says Jaret Loggenberg, Managing Director of The Artists Gallery and one of the nine artists at the same time. “Our first collaboration with Prestige Cosmetics Group makes this reunion even more special, inviting visitors to experience the artworks through scent as well as sight.”
Art lovers and collectors are warmly invited to discover SHE Returns to Cape Town, a celebration of women’s creative voices and a fresh dialogue between art and fragrance.
