13 FEBRUARY - 7 MARCH 2026
Gilded Masquerade.
Solo-Exhibition by Androetta Bekker with sculptures by Robin Kutinyu.
PRESS RELEASERooted in the theme Gilded Masquerade, this body of work explores the layers we carry, the facades we present, and the quiet truths that exist beneath the surface. Bekker’s work reflects on identity as something nuanced and evolving — shaped by experience, memory, and perception.
Her practice invites the viewer into a space where emotion is held in delicate balance. The compositions feel both intimate and expansive, drawing the viewer into moments that exist between what is seen and what is sensed. Bekker’s visual language is subtle yet powerful, unfolding slowly and with intention.
Central to Bekker’s practice is the use of art as a therapeutic and reflective process. Through pattern, repetition, and layered surfaces, her works become sites for processing emotion and lived experience. Identity is presented not as fixed or singular, but as cumulative — built over time through layers of feeling and reflection.
This solo exhibition brings together a carefully considered body of work that reflects Androetta Bekker’s ongoing exploration of perception and the delicate negotiation between what is revealed and what is held back. Gilded Masquerade ultimately invites viewers to reflect on their own layers — those that protect, those that conceal, and those that quietly define who we are.
For now, we invite you to mark this moment: an encounter with an artist whose work speaks softly, yet resonates deeply.
The exhibition opens officially on Friday, 13 February 2026, and will run until 7 March 2026 at 33BREE, in collaboration with The Artists Gallery.
The works by Androetta Bekker will be accompanied by bronze sculptures by Robin Kutinyu.
